Overview

Opening long overwater routes to your Part 135 fleet

A 135 ETOPS certification program lets a Part 135 operator fly turbine airplanes on routes that take them beyond the normal distance from an adequate diversion airport. Oceanic crossings and remote regions are where this authorization matters most.

ETOPS authorization reaches into almost every part of an operation: the aircraft and its equipment, maintenance practices, crew knowledge, dispatch and flight planning, and the application itself. Skyports pulls those pieces into one program that fits your fleet and route plan.

Every consultant on our team is a former FAA professional, and our international oversight experience helps you anticipate what extended operations demand in practice, not only on paper.

Scope of support

Six building blocks of a 135 ETOPS program

Aircraft requirements

Review of your airplanes, equipment and configuration against the ETOPS requirements for Part 135 operations.

Operator requirements

Assessment of your experience, operational control and organizational readiness to support extended operations.

Crew training

Training that covers ETOPS planning, diversion decision-making, fuel scenarios and system failures for pilots and operational control staff.

Maintenance program

ETOPS maintenance procedures, including pre-departure service checks, parts control and handling of discrepancies on ETOPS-significant systems.

Flight planning

Procedures for selecting and monitoring diversion airports, weather minimums, fuel planning and communication requirements along the route.

Application

A complete application package with manual revisions and supporting documents organized for FAA review.

Your route to approval

From route idea to ETOPS authorization

01

Route and fleet review

We look at the routes you want to fly, the aircraft you operate and the authorizations you already hold.

02

Gap assessment

We compare your current manuals, maintenance practices and training against ETOPS requirements and list what is missing.

03

Program development

Manual revisions, training curricula, maintenance procedures and flight planning guidance are written for your operation.

04

Application and evaluation

We prepare the application and support you while the FAA reviews documents and evaluates your readiness.

05

Sustaining the program

ETOPS requires ongoing discipline. We help with revisions, recurrent training and internal reviews after authorization.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

ETOPS stands for Extended Operations. For Part 135, it applies to turbine-powered airplanes flying routes that place them farther from an adequate airport than the standard limits allow. The authorization adds requirements for the aircraft, maintenance, crews and flight planning.

Yes. ETOPS is an authorization added to an existing Part 135 operation. If you are still certificating, we can plan your manuals with future extended operations in mind. See our Part 135 air carrier services.

Long overwater crossings, such as flights over the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans, and routes across remote areas with few suitable airports are the usual cases. Your exact need depends on your aircraft and the diversion airports available along the planned route.

ETOPS adds specific procedures for ETOPS-significant systems, pre-departure checks, parts control and how discrepancies are handled. Your technicians need training on those procedures, and your maintenance manual must describe them clearly.

Yes. Crew training is part of our ETOPS support, and we can also deliver on-site sessions through our customized aviation training.

No. The FAA decides when and whether to grant ETOPS authorization. Our role is to give you a complete, consistent program and application so the evaluation can proceed without avoidable setbacks.
